Why is he such a dick? I get that the writers have creative license and don't HAVE to give existing characters the personalities they have in the games/anime/manga, but it's so strange to see Lance of all people treat Pokemon like... Silver from Gen II Did a Pikachu kill his parents or something? |

All I'll say is that as the game progresses the player will definitely have opportunities to find out why certain characters act the way they do. |

tbh, I like this lance he's always been one of my least favorite characters due to the fact that he's always so full of himself, so seeing him like this gives me a more valid reason to hate the guy |

Janine very purposefully used the past tense when referring to his relationship with his Dragonite. It probably died, or flew away, or something like that. And now Lance is bitter. Standard "I screwed up so anyone like me will screw up too" plot. |

I actually feel that Lance's character and the way he behaves will be explained more in depth when and if the player joins the Battle Team, whenever that is released. On the surface he's a real piece of work for sure, but it'd be great to be able to become friends with him though by the end of the visual novel. |

Personally, I'm very glad that the developers made Lance a dick. Pokémon already has too many characters that are too nice for the position they're in, this makes the game more realistic and presents an actual obstacle in Red's way rather than just Blue and some other students that don't like his attitude. |
